CBC's New Plan For Self Immolation

No fair use? Pay per month to quote their articles on your blog? Can't criticize the CBC? $1,000,000 rewards for snitching on non-compliant bloggers? Sorry, Kady O'Malley: I still love you, but it is sooo over.

And, as Jimbobby points out over at Scott's place, this from a public broadcaster.

I was checking this out the other day. On the "license" option below the article, one option offered is "Post all or part of this article on a web site, intranet, or blog." But when you go beyond that, there's only the choice of reproducing a full article. Then I started checking out the other options and the whole thing is laughably confused.

The bit about the criticising the CBC beggars belief:

You shall not use the Content in any manner or context that will be in any way derogatory to CBC, the author, the publication from which the Content came, or any person connected with the creation of the Content or depicted in the Content.

Has Bangalore become too expensive for the CBC so that it is now outsourcing its legal work to North Korea?

This is the best laugh I've had all week.

Time does not permit me to get into all of the details as to why I think this development absurd, so I will simply state: WTF? WTF? WTF?

This probably has something to do with Two-Tier Tony Clement's and others' ACTA shenanigans. Intellectual property Gleichschaltung. We'll wake up one day and find out we can't even break copyright law if we wanted to or find we're breaking copyright law without even knowing it.

Just keep paying your Rogers bill and shut up.

CBC Radio is having a phone-in program on prorogation (Sunday 4-6 p.m. Eastern).

Will this be next?

I don't even think we're allowed to talk about this.

I think I should have meant Satan.

Who would you vote for: Harper or Satan?

So, is that part of the reason Harper appointed a Conservative supporter as head of CBC?
