Tories Vow To Gut Their Own Legislation Every Year

Government sources say they are contemplating formally shutting down Parliament at the end of every year, so the government can start afresh with a throne speech and a budget.

And at the beginning of every year, they'll promise to get tough on crime and repeal the gun registry.

What's the point having a parliament? Why have a so-called democracy?

All those bills that get killed should just fly through a new and restructured senate. No more stalling and no more watering down.. It's a Christmas miracle.

Are these people just f'n high? Or did they skip out on the civics courses in their early years?

Do the Americans do that ?

I think I was f'n high in my civics courses. You see, textbook politics is different from the reality. We all got the lesson that our MP represents his/her constituents. The reality is that our MP represents his or her leader. The prime minister can ask to shut down Parliament anytime he wants.

Sure they will.

I so enjoy the naïve hopes of people like RR.

Have you ever considered how many bills are going to be held up in the senate when we elect a majority of one party in the House and a majority of another party in the Senate?

Maybe Harper is just not thinking things through. Either that, or he really is not interested in Senate reform after all...
