Yogatta Be Kidding Me

A few Christians in Quesnel, B.C. are concerned that having their kids do yoga exercises in school will throw them into the lap of Satan.

"Supposedly, we do not allow religion in schools -- and yoga is a religion," said cattle rancher Audrey Cummings, 68, who filed a complaint with the Quesnel school board and the Education Ministry over the Action Schools program.

[...]

Yoga turns kids' minds toward Hindu gods, Cummings said.

"If you're not seeking the God of the Bible, His power, then by default you're in the other camp," Cummings said. "The other source of supernatural power is Satan."

The school argues that they are merely employing a series of stretching exercises, not the entire Hindu Metaphysic, in an attempt to combat childhood obesity. But the parents feel its a slippery slope. First the kids do yoga, next thing they're praying to a dancing, six armed elephant.

Painting all Christians with the same brush is like calling all Muslims terrorists. The majority of Christians are not wingnuts like you seem to allude.

Where was that alluded?

...Boy, if Jesus were walking the Earth right now, he'd be telling most of his flock to STFU.

BSL likes to make fun of Christians, a target he likes to link to his political enemies and one which he knows won't fight back. But has he made fun of Islam, posted the Mohammed Cartoons perhaps? Or would that be too risky for our intrepid atheist?

I dunno...the Murragh building in Oklahoma City, the blown up abortion clinics and the murdered doctors seem to indicate that some "Christians" do fight back.

What are your plans, anonymous? Strangling stray cats in the back alley?

And when BSL can't or won't answer a comment he jumps into his ti-guy suit and turns into super blogger defender of down trodden Liberals.

How 'bout it BSL, as a staunch atheist you must believe that all religions (except Marxism) are frauds, so why the conspicuous absence of Islam from your witty keyboard? There's lots of material out there, give it a try be an equal opportunity atheist.

Anon,

blo-vating in the Sun and on the blogs aside, Islam has very little sway over the course of the Canadian nation. I don't write much about its defects for the same reason that I don't kick little dogs. There's no honor in it.

Don't be stupid. Or at least try to hide it better.

Yeah, what's up with bending over backwards to accomodate one religion, but going out of your way to attack and ridicule another?

And don't even try to tell us what Jesus would say today. You're in no way qualified.
