Only A Party With Money To Burn

...could afford a stunt like this. Not sure how well it will work, myself. Lorrie Goldstein thinks it shows a certain amount of fear on the Tories part:

Clearly, they're worried Dion's carbon tax, whenever he releases it, could appeal to voters concerned about global warming, particularly if the Liberal announcement is backed by environmentalists, economists and business groups stressing it will be effective and "revenue neutral," a claim the Tories mock. You don't put this much effort into attacking someone you don't think is a threat.

But whatever. Ads right at gas pumps. Gangs of young Tories at petrol stations, engaged in guerrilla marketing. (Careful with that. Motorists with a dark sense of humour might just hose 'em down with gasoline and torch 'em for kicks. Not me, obviously.) Is the fact that the website goes out of its way to reference Jason Cherniak personally a sign of the Harper governments all seeing, all knowing nature, or a sign of the fact that they are spending zillions on something really "inside baseball" in nature, and therefore just...don't...get...it?

Dion is going to get his ass whooped next election.

Case closed.

The guy has got to be one of the worst politicians this country has ever produced.

The guy can't speak English, is about 65lbs, and has no vision or policies.

Does anyone else get the sense that everyone who follows Harper has the mentality of a 14 year old?

I think, higher up the CPC foodchain, it's more of a tactic: "Look at how our imbecility discombobulates the liberal/lefties/progressives! See how we can dismiss their carefully articulated arguments by sticking our tongues out at that them! See how people who aren't interested in politics at all get a kick out of this!"

At the operational level, they do have mentalities of 14 year-olds: fratboys, mean girls, passive-agressive dullards and faith-based train wrecks.

You ever notice how CPC women sound like Chatty Cathy dolls and CPC men all sound like their testicles haven't dropped yet?

Great comment Ti-Guy.

Couldn't expect anything less from a left wing "progressive".

I still have a hard time understanding what "progressive" means.

I would suggest to all out there to delete Johnathon - he's all over the blogosphere again talking nasty - ...he's not worth the risk.

The link to http://www.blogger.com/Willyoubetricked.ca not working. (not that this is necessarily a bad thing . . . just wondering?)

Johnathon - I notice that you were the first to comment this morning, was that linking working when you read this post?

ruralsandi,

We must have published at the same time, whoops.

Johnathon said...

Actually sassi you published at 10:30 and sandi published at 10:25.

Yeah, there is nothing more I love than to get up at 7:30am, go on to Liblogs.ca and get a laugh.

Nothing other than American politics and left wing rhetoric.

Call the election Dion and give my man Harper a majority so he can take the country down the route everyone wants.

Unless of course you live in Toronto, Montreal or Saskatchewan.

If one goes to the site and visits the "timeline" section, it seems that Connies hate all taxes - so why are they doing absolutely noting about existing taxes and focusing on the "Dion" tax. One would think that now that they have the reigns of power, they would be eliminating the taxes they hate....

Of course it always different... at the moment they seem too busy wasting taxpayers money and messing up the economy big time...

Retarothon, the route everybody wants?
Surely you mean 33% at best....

We've noticed, already.

As for the silly website going at the Carbon tax, well, the CPC is trying to frame the matter before the public get the full story.

It was more informative when it wasn't working.

You'd think the CPC would have learned by now that their disinformation campaigns just prove they're a bunch of liars.

The libs are counting on Canadians' short memories to push this turd of a carbon tax through. When have promises of "revenue neutral" or "temporary" taxes ever actualized. From the temporary income tax of WW1 to the GST to temporary surtaxes to the no more taxes health levy of McGuinty. The tax laws are so complex and idiotic as they are. Creating another army of bureaucrats to admister this POS makes great sense. The big city navelgazers fail to realize that there are huge swaths of this country where live hard working people of modest means who rely on this taxable energy to make a living. What makes more sense? How about giving people a much more sizeable tax credit to trade down to an alternative energy vehicle. Ten thousand or greater. Most people, despite your wishful thinking, will see this for what it is. Another tax grab and bigger government with little to show in return.

Huge swaths of sparsely populated territory inhabited by cretins, you mean?

Whatever point these people have should always be interpreted in that light.

Why do these knobs always think they're the only ones who pay taxes?

Maybe Ti-Guy its because your welfare bum doesn't pay taxes.

Get the drift?

I guess that explains the 14 year old mentality, look at their audience.

Yes...you're thinking about my bum again.
