Your hypocrisy is the only thing consistent about you. Your willingness to change your minds as soon as your political masters tell you is most disturbing.
The Conservatives understand that an approach based on logic and policy is doomed -- they know voters make their decisions based on feelings, such as whether the party cares about them and their issues.
How said, and yet true, is that.
Our elections, more and more, are more akin to a Coca-Cola marketing campaign than any sincere effort to educate the public to make reasoned decisions.

I don't expect to get my education from political parties and campaigns. I don't know what most Conservatives do but I suspect that's part of the problem...at least when it comes to substantive issues of common interest.
I just don't understand why anyone would think patriotism is a "conservative value". I am patriotic and I am not conservative.

Conservatives have always had a love of country as deep as anyones. What they've objected to is the reduction of citizenship to solely the concept of rights without any responsibilities.

In other words, we vote for people, Conservative, Liberal, NDP, or otherwise, so often for no particularly valid reason.. and the political parties pick that up and go with it.
So - the electoral process becomes something like selling soap, or maybe like three card monte.
Either way - it doesn't bode well for the long-term prospects for our democratic system. I mean - as happy as Conservatives are about the recent bi-election, look at the voter turn out.

This what they should teach in school, first. Our kids are left out when it comes to Canadian history.
I can't work up any outrage for this... it seems like a decent enough guide to the country for new citizens.
