Michael Coren, The Jews, And Hollywood
I didn't see it, because its on Sun TV and, lets face it, NOBODY was watching. But U.S author Shmuley Boteach (his real name) claims Michael Coren told him that the Jews control Hollywood and essentially use it as a base from which to undermine Christianity. Amazing, if true, how specimens of the modern Right can be so pro-Israel on the one hand and traffic in all the old stereotypes on the other.

Yes. Coren's a bigot. Ho Hum.
I didn't know anything about Boteach. I went to his website. He's running for Congress, as a Republican. He had a "News Link" to an interview on a the site "Klein Online". On Klein Online I was presented an offer for a free autographed copy of "The Manchurian President: Barack Obama's Ties to Communists, Socialists and Other Anti-American Extremists".
Boteach happily promotes an interview from an extremist odd-ball (for a charitable characterisation) like Klein. That's one degree of separation from strident anti-muslim bigotry.
If he's fine wading through sewers, he shouldn't complain too much if he steps in muck.
Remind me, how does one file a complaint with the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council?
Coren = sewer. That's about right. ;P
The Right's support for Israel has nothing to do with support for Jewish people. It's partly biblical prophecy crap and partly that they hate Muslims even more.
There's a damn good reason why despite the Republican party's stronger support of Isreal, American Jews overwhelmingly vote Democrat - the only demographic that's more strongly Democrat are gay and lesbian voters.

I stand beside Michael Coren. The fact is that Rabbi Boteach must issue an apology for his false label of antisemitism.
So, Meier, can you set me up with J-Lo or not?
I suggest you watch the episode and then make an opinion, or is that asking too much respomsibility?
I watched it and liked them both.
I have a bit of a different view. Rabbi Boteach is and always has been a media seeker and loudmouth not unlike Coren. And he happens to be running for Congress. Whatt better way to get some publicity than finding a way to yell anti-Semitism. Yet here I believe the man screams in decibels as opposed to measured tones, and he lessens his argument as a result.
Coren walks a fine line. In my view when you ascribe a planful agenda to a whole set of people (here the Jews) suggesting that their "influence" in Hollywood is so strong as to effect how one thinks of Christians, you are inferring a collective conspiracy. And yes that trends into anti-Semitism.
Let's be clear, there are many in Hollywood who are born of the Jewish faith. Does that mean that they collectively had a plan to besmirch Christians? Give me a break. Coren crosses the line.
Boteach though makes accusations against Corent that are untrue and thus allow him an out. This exacerbates the matter.
Neither Boteach or Coren cover themselves with any glory here.
