John Baird: From Bali To Pokey?

Soon On A
Prison Diet?

John Baird, the federal environment minister, was called on by police detectives a second time for more questioning in their bribery investigation against Mayor Larry O'Brien, the [Ottawa] Citizen has learned.

If you haven't been keeping track:

Following a Citizen investigative report, Mr. O'Brien became the subject of an intense criminal investigation into allegations that he offered money and help to Terry Kilrea, a former political opponent, land a federal appointment if he dropped out of last year's mayoral race.

John Baird comes into the picture because his office handles front-line requests for political appointments in Eastern Ontario, and sources have him meeting at Hy's Steakhouse, an upscale watering hole frequented by politicians and journalists, with O'Brien back in October, 2006. Baird claims to have been meeting with an unidentified "constituent", but says he might have 'bumped into" O'Brien at Hy's that night.

Holy crap, maybe John gets back from Bali and winds up bunking with Conrad!

PS. First Schrieber/Mulroney, and now this. Is it fair to describe the Harper goverment as "embattled" yet?

Mr. Baird...I am open to offers that will turn me into the "unidentified constituent."

...oh, and by that I mean "financial offers."

For all the good he's been doing as Enviromin, he could get life and no one would notice he was gone.

"Finally, the facts surrounding this issue have not changed: An appointment for (Terry Kilrea) was never considered. An appointment was never put forward. An appointment was never made."
Yah, don't let facts get in the way of a good smear.

There's that word "fact" again. Some people must think it has magical qualities and can become evidence as soon as the word is uttered.

Here's a fact Baird might want to consider. In the history of mankind, there has never been an international agreement or treaty that had 100% approval and participation of every nation on earth.

It is patently and obviously disingenuous for Baird to insist on total agreement in Bali. Canada has signed literally hundred, if not thousands, of international agreements and not one of them included every other country in the entire world.

He and the Con's are obstructionists of the first order. Our grandchildren will rightly hold us responsible for allowing the Con's to couch this issue as "Environment vs. Economy." Without a healthy environment, there will be no economy.

Very amusing.

Keep up the good work.

I guess you can dream up any sort of scandal you like, and the left-wing MSM will suck it up and bray constantly about it, and then there will NEVER be a peep from them when it's found to be totally baseless. But that's how the drive-by smear tactics of the liberal media work. Proof? Evidence? Thorough investigation? That's only the standard you would apply to everyone else but yourselves.

jimbobby, I see you've been sucked into this scam as well.

Tell us, what is the link between ice cores and global warming?

I love it when the wingnuts go all lyrical.

I love it when they call the Ottawa Citizen left-wing.

Aside from the Toronto Star was there was single English paper in the country backing the Liberals in the last election? Certainly none of the CanWest Global ones.

Oh and smearing? Coming from a CON troll that's a riot. You guys have perfected the smear, from Harper's poisoned pen rants in the House to Baird's abuse of facial blush.
Get a room!
