The speeches were part of the two-hour-long Senate inquiry, a kind of procedure unique to the upper chamber to allow senators to raise important issues. Usually, aside from drawing attention to a given subject, Senate inquiries have little effect.
And remember, underneath it all the University of Ottawa thing was all about Coulter's Coulter camp's inability to successfully rent a room.

It appears the Citizen and the Senators never let the facts get in the way of a story.
It's really pathetic to see the senators using the minor travails of a genocide-promoting blond American proto-fascist harridan as a catalyst to claim free speech is being stifled.
These people really do need their hate speech.
I'm catching your performance on Michael Coren right now. Not bad so far.
That zitty manatee's really obnoxious.

People were told to register in advance so your point is moot.
Maybe if the student council let them put up posters these kids would have known this.
Well, I finished watching Coren.
All in all, not bad. I hadn't been all the impressed with Rob Silver before but I thought he made an excellent point about a consensus approach to Israel/Palestine, which we did have in this country previously but which has been distorted in the last decade as the Right became increasingly irrational. Silver gave that insufferable gastropod a ride for his money as well.
I don't know what Brock was whining about at the end. I think he is remembering his emotions when you equated free speech supporters to nazi supporters more than the detail of the event.
Well, what I think I said was that the speechys were getting their information from the NNs and really ought to know better than to trust info from that source. I can't remember if Brock is one of the five who is getting sued.
I don't think he is. I'm pretty sure he never took any of the claims against Warman at face value, unlike Ezzie, Shaidle, KKKate et al.
Actually, I don't believe Ezzie took the claims at face value either. He just believes a lawsuit will force disclosure of information he believes will discredit the HRC's.
The ethics of these people are a thing of wonder.
