Sarah Palin Was Member Of Alaska Secessionist Party!

They're called the Alaska Independence Party, and party members have suggested that

...the state explore the possibility of joining Canada. Other members have expressed opposition to joining Canada in its present form but are open to the possibility of joining an independent Western Canadian state in the event one should be established.

Frankly, this is far more dangerous to the McCain ticket than all this silliness about who was pregnant when. (See about the 45 second mark for info about Sarah's connection to the Alaskan separatists).

h/t Buckets.

So she's been the Veep candidate since Friday, and this much has come out in such a short period of time.

I say dig up her backyard. At this rate we might find actual skeletons.

In case anyone is interested, Peter Jaworski at the Shotgun has been in contact with the Alaska Independence Party about this and has more information.

Link is here.

Wow, a separatist in federal politics who wasn't already recruited by Brian Mulroney or Paul Martin. Didn't think that was possible.

FWIW - this (note: links to PDF file) seems to show that she has been a registered Republican since '82. Doesn't mean she didn't attend an AIP convention, of course, but I'd like to see some documentation from the AIP confirming her membership before I take this one too far.

Why, what's wrong with being part of a secessionist party? The United States was founded on the premise of self-government. Further, the states maintain the right of secession, so what's the problem?

First you have to be a member of a secessionsist party before you can even beging to decide if it's a problem. Palin never was a member so the problem becomes one of why lefties spread these unfounded rumours.
