Tips on Beating Down the Conservative Menace
Don't most commentators of you ilk like to say that if it wasn't for Harper, the Conservative should have their majority? Why then would you be at all glad to see him go?
Frunger, because there is no one in the wings to replace him, unless you call Manning leader-in-waiting. Prentice - too far left. Baird - too crazy. Charest won't jump. Lord to far east. Mackay can't keep a girlfriend. Flaherty is a finance minister and you know where those go. Clement? Not after G8, and he is too nerdy. The end of Harper makes it feel like 93 all over again on the right.
william and Frunger ...if Bernard Lord was the leader of the CPofC right now, he'd get that majority. I for one would vote for him. He'd control the so-con yahoos and restore some traditional Tory conservatism to the party. But you're right, he's too far east for this saskalberta-centric gang of populist misfits to ever elect as leader. Enjoy your perpetual 34% in the polls Reformatories!
I'm with TofKW, Lord would bring alot of "Red Tories" with him. But william, don't forget Bernier! *snicker*
They accomplished their main goals though.Institute a pernicious new Energy plan for Canada, that involves the destruction of the Nuclear Industry in favour of the Western Tar Sands Industry. And therefore abandonment forever of any hope that Canadian Nuclear technology will help mitigate worldwide climate change and grow Canada's economy substantially. We will forced, or risk economic ruin of our only remaining important industry (oil), to stand full-square behind Saudi-Arabia in coming negotiations working out trade treaties that include green house emissions (taking a position against any tariffs). We have ceded that Canada's industrial policy will be to solely support the tar sands industry. The tories largely killed aerospace a long time ago with the aero, and have now killed nuclear to a similar degree. Apart from the oil-support and nuclear industries, there is no other major manufacturing industry for Ontario, save the auto industry, which has zero potential for growth, and mining, which has little potential for growth. Wind energy is giant joke (a fraud of an industrial policy). Most new industrial growth in Ontario will therefore be tied to making pipeline, drilling and processing parts. It will therefore be politically imperative in Ontario to do nothing to stand in the way of the only major new industrial engine in Canada, the tar Sands. Thanks Iggy. You've turned Canada into Saudi Arabia. .Ca => .Sa
Patience, Liberals. - BCLI'll say.
The CPC have no leadership reviews if they get government. If they get stuck back in oppo then and only then are they able to have a review and remove him.
If E. May goes, how will we know it?(coincidentally, my spambot phrase for this message is gromai.)
crf: You forgot about bringing about judgement day.. and maybe Shamrock shakes all year round too.
Atheists don't believe in Judgement day.Harper loves being in charge of Canada. Absolutely everything he has really wanted he has gotten. Why the hell should Harper even want his Judgement day? He's turning Canada into an inwardly-looking right-wing Alberta-led paradise, irrelevant to the rest of the world.
