Quick, Jack! There's a cute little frog in Dominica that needs the NDP to come to its rescue. Because its sooo easy to be progressive over shit going on a 1,000 miles away, right?
Closer to home, there's one animal that will never go extinct as long as Jack and the gang are in the HOC:

Here's an issue that leaves the onus on Layton. He's gotten away with posturing and bravado when the onus isn't on him.
If the resigistry is killed, Layton will wear forever in the history books.
He supposedly cares about the average Canadian - this will tell us once and for all if he cares.
If this registry does get killed, it will be because of Jack Layton, and the NDP.
Just another stellar achievement, racked up by Jack and the NDP.
We can also thank them for losing Kelowna, and child care.
Jack Layton, and his NDP party have inflicted so much damage on this nation, that it has almost become an embarrassment to see them standing up and saying they represent anything progressive.
Monsieur Thomas Mulcair, will have a lot of explaining to do in Outremont, if the registry is killed, because that is where Poly-technique is located. The sight of the massacre, of all those innocent female students.
Quebec is where support for the registry is highest.
If Jack Layton, and the NDP, would devote half as much time to attacking Stephen Harper, and the Conservatives, as they do attacking the Liberals, one can only imagine where we would be today.
Congratulations, Jack Layton, you sir have one hell of a sterling record.
"He's gotten away with posturing and bravado when the onus isn't on him."
Slight side issue, but part of a more general theme. Layton and the federal NDP have been banging the anti-HST drum in Ontario and British Columbia, on what is a supposed principled stand. People will note not a PEEP about Nova Scotia's NDP government, who just raised their HST to the highest in the land, the most outrageous if you follow the NDP's logic elsewhere. Once again, we see a circumstance, where the NDP gets all high and mighty when they're on the sidelines, but as soon as there is a direct co-relation, they run for cover and clam up. This HST fight is the most ridiculous contradiction I've seen, and I'm stunned that the media lets them get away with any of it. If you're against the HST, then you're against it, you don't get to pick your province, based on political self interest, and the face that is EXACTLY what we see now, makes the NDP position simply laughable.
It's a vote-killing boondoggle. Get over it.
You get to accuse the NDP of cowardice only when your own party develops the fortitude to vote against the Conservative government on a contempt charge over the refusal to release the detainee documents, and on the Omnibus budget bill (C-9).
We're waiting.
A vote killing boondoggle versus a people killing ideology.
I know which side of that question I'm on.
Ridenrain maybe you shouldn't be talking about boondoggles when the Cons are dealing with a billion dollar boondoggle of their own.
Are those chickens coming to roost in Conbot land Rr or are you just so hopped up on Blue Koolaid you're blind to it?
RidenRain,
Please share your illuminating thoughts on the $1.2 billion, it is costing the Canadian taxpayers, for a three day summit.
Stephen Harper, can always manage to find money to pull out of his fat ass, when it is something to promote himself, asshole that he is.
By I will give you credit RnR, you have got to be one of the biggest ass lickers Harper, has.
As for the NDP, fortitude, don't make me gag.
When push came to shove last fall, and the onus was on Layton to finally have to take responsibility for the government surviving or falling, he folded like a cheap suit. here is what he said to Harper:
"Am I bent far enough over for you Steve, so you can have your way with me"
"You get to accuse the NDP of cowardice only when your own party develops the fortitude to vote against the Conservative government on a contempt charge over the refusal to release the detainee documents, and on the Omnibus budget bill (C-9)."
Actually, no. Anyone can accuse teh NDp of cowardice when they clearly act cowardly, as they are on the gun registry.
Linda Duncan just lost my vote.
Kudos to Jack for ignoring the melodramatic gunphobes.
Gayle,
I hope you at least find it satisfying to throw away your vote because, as you say, "the police have one less tool to solve crime."
But who will you vote for if the Liberals don't support legislation to give police the power to randomly pull over vehicles and give breathalyzers?
For all the bluster and hyperbole here, it wasn't the NDP who continuously avoided votes that would take down this minority government. The NDP may have a solid and frightening fringe but they hold their course far better than the Liberals have. Till your party is run by it's members and not Bay Street bankers, I'll continue to respect the NDP over the Liberals. Asking them to support this boondoggle is asking them to sink along with the Liberals.
"But who will you vote for if the Liberals don't support legislation to give police the power to randomly pull over vehicles and give breathalyzers?"
That is just a dumb question. I am actually allowed to accept facts that say a gun registry helps the police solve crime, and that random breathalyzers breach our Charter rights, even if they might help police solve crime.
I also do not think every person in Canada should provide their fingerprints and DNA to the police, nor should we all wear a monitoring device that allows the police know where we are at all times of the day, even though those measures will surely help the police solve crime.
When it comes to the gun registry, the NDP are taking an unprincipled stand, and they lose my vote as a result.
"I'll continue to respect the NDP over the Liberals."
One of the strongest arguments I have seen for me to support the liberals.
Well Gayle, if it's unconstitutional the court will strike it down, and if it isn't, why wouldn't you favour it?
It could actually prevent some of the 1500 annual drunk-driving deaths, while the registry is only offering to solve some of the few dozen annual long gun homicides.
(for the record I'm not in favour of allowing the police this additional power)
Anyhow, have fun helping return Alberta to a solid blue hue.
My level of disgust with the NDP is rising quickly. Is it any wonder they languish in 4th place in the polls? This sniveling spinelessness is killing Canada. It's time for the Dippers to be brave and do something real.
Defeat this private member's bill! Save the gun registry.
Of course, the Liberals are no better.
I stand as a Canadian without a party to support.
Somebody help me!
"if it's unconstitutional the court will strike it down..."
Our politicians have to respect our constitution, and therefore I believe it is wrong to knowingly pass legislation that is unconstitutional. Furthermore, it will take thousands, if not millions, of tax dollars to finance a constututional challenge all the way up to the SCC.
The gun registry is important to me. If the NDP are not going to save it, what difference does it make who is the MP in Edmonton Strathcona?
WTF ,my does this gun registry drive everyone batty ? The rehetoric around this issue is just bizarre.
The NDPs posturing ? The NDP's supports gun-nuts ?
Yikes,your partisan slips are showing.
I think there's some debate about whether it would be unconstitutional or not. After all, setting up roadblocks to stop people without any reasonable suspicion is apparently acceptable.
"If the NDP are not going to save it, what difference does it make who is the MP in Edmonton Strathcona?"
Well, on this issue alone, if Duncan votes to keep the registry, there's your difference. The Con that would be elected in her place would be subject to the stealth whip to scrap it.
The NDP may have a solid and frightening fringe but they hold their course far better than the Liberals have.
Yes, but only if they know the Liberals are going to hold off an election. When the Liberals signal that they won't, the NDP will try and work with the government and end up vote with them.
The NDP make much about voting against the government, but when it comes down to it, the NDP want an election as little as the LIberals do.
Shorter Ridenrain: "I'm just too stupid to muster a response to Gallahad".
Seriously Ridenrain we should have a trophy awarded to you for dumbest Canadian. That is quite a feat.
Well actual BigcityLib the NDP's stance on Columbia is based on the fact that the Cons have signed a free-trade agreement with a government that brutal suppresses Union organizers & workers.Indeed 3 out of ever 5 union organizers killed on the entire planet are Colombian.
Hardly irrelevant, despite your cynical remark about "cute frogs".
Indeed even the Liberals criticize foreign policy blunder of the Con's.
Again your partisan slip is showing.
RidenRain,
Congratulations
You live up to my extremely low opinion of you, and do not answer my question.
I asked you what you thought about the Canadian taxpayers funding $1.2billion, for a three day summit. The summit will accomplish nothing, and just present Harper another golden opportunity to embarrass us on the world stage.
How do you feel, about a federal minister of the crown, one Vic Toews admitting, that he is spending more taxpayer dollars than necessary, because the Harper government does not want to be attacked by Liberals.
This of course is all based on a Liberal campaign ad, that never saw the light of day.
What a flagrant disregard for the Canadian taxpayer.
How do you feel about another Federal minister of the crown, one Peter Van Loan, sitting on a report about the LGR. The report was unfavourable to the Harper's position on the LGR, so Van Loan, never let parliament even see the report, before a vote on the LGR, was held.
I don't expect any answers, out of you, because you are a lying fucker, and a Conni cock sucker.
You really have no principles, and are just on these boards, to propagate CPC, filth and lies.
Maybe you should pull your head out of Harper's big fat ass, and let your brain get some air, before it is too late.
"Well, on this issue alone, if Duncan votes to keep the registry, there's your difference."
What difference? The gun registry is killed because the NDP refuse to save it.
It does not matter what Duncan does. She is a member of a party that does not care enough about public safety to save the gun registry. That is all I need to know.
Should she decide to leave the NDP and run as an independent she can have my vote back.
Looks like Dirk thinks he's come up with a clever retort with your partisan slip is showing.
Feel free like running it into the ground even more Dirk.
Your partisan slip is visible from space.
