SURREY, B.C. (CP) - Former federal Conservative candidate Derek Zeisman has admitted to trying to smuggle more than 100 bottles of alcohol over the Canadian border.
Zeisman pleaded guilty to one count of smuggling in a Surrey court today, while five other charges have been dropped against him.
The original story broke during the midst of the 2006 campaign, and I always hoped it would cancel out the whole Adscam thing. It didn't, but Mr. Zeisman might be at least partly responsible for the fact that we don't have a Conservative majority today. Thank you, Mr. Zeisman

You've got to be kidding. 100 bottle of alcohol versus millions and millions of tax payers money? Only a Liberal could link those 2 together.
Well, Adscam was a typical "power corrupts" situation. In this case, the corruption started before the guy even got into power. That sure tells you something.

One guy is trying to keep his own money in his pockets and out of the coffers of a bloated and inefficient government, and the other is trying to put YOUR money in his pockets with the HELP of a bloated and inefficient government.

By the way, what exactly did you add to the discussion of this post? I was merely pointing out that some small idiot in the entire Conservative party did something that was stupid. But to somehow think this incident would overshadow Adscam is actually pretty funny.

Liberal Pleads Guilty
"A federal member of Parliament pleaded guilty Tuesday to a hit-and-run charge involving a woman who was injured when struck by a car a year ago.
Jean-Guy Carignan, the Liberal MP for the Québec City riding of Québec-Est, was charged after a 20-year-old woman suffered minor injuries when hit by a car on Oct. 3, 2000."
Somehow smuggling 100 bottle of liquor doesn't seem quite so drastic.
The guy was merely trying to achieve social justice in a progressive grass-roots manner, as those alcohol tax revenues would have ONLY been used to support the mission in Afghanistan. Don't you see that?
