Buckets points out that the founding convention of the Western Business and Taxpayers Association (WTBA), Canada's latest Western Separatist group, was supposed to have been this weekend. However, if you check out their website, you will see that the convention and indeed the organization have been inactive for the past several months.
I fired off a quick email to Executive Director David Crutcher on Thursday, and he responded that the convention had been delayed for "personal reasons", but that the organization is "getting back on track". Once a new date for the convention has been set, you will of course hear about it here.

The pattern is fairly typical for Alberta separatists. Find something to get outraged about, garner a few headlines and vanish when the momentum dries up.
They still haven't figured out that for all that political issues will piss off people, political issues do not create the kind of identity that would sustain separatist politics.
