Will Their Base Allow Themselves To Be Played For Suckers Yet Again?

"The government is probably just as happy if its senate reform bills and the crime bills don't get through," he said. "It gives them the opportunity to use the elections to try out their platform for the support of their base."

After all, Harper's been playing the same game for five years now.

Clearly, Conservatives are still committed to moving Canada back to the center otherwise they would not have that 10 point lead and overwhelming financial support from their members.

and overwhelming financial support from their members.

Rubes are much easier to fleece.

How bottomless is that Conservative money barrel anyway? Members have to run out of money sometime. And then there's also exhaustion. How much longer can Harper run around spending like a drunken sailor claiming to be the Great White Hope for Conservatism, while keeping his base interested? There has to be a limit.

Will the rubes will that way forever? It's not that many will change parties, but they will start, eventually, staying home and not donating. Especially with the price of gas and food going up.

What I find delicious are all these career civil servants, CBC employee types who are vocal Liberals, pay lip service to the fact that their livelihood comes from a Liberal government yet won’t donate. Like their party of choice is simply entitled to money from taxpayers.

shorter ridofbrain: anyone not working 3 part time minimum wage jobs must work for the CBC.

Dodge all you like but money is the blood of politics and the Liberals are not in place to steal it from the taxpayers this time.

Yeah the conservatives are relishing their chance to steal from the taxpayer. HT to ridofbrain
