New Harris Decima Poll Shows New Ipsos Poll At Least 100% Bullshit

When it comes to polls, Steve V. Sees All, Knows All

The latest Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey finds the Conservatives maintaining a slight lead in popular support, with 34 per cent to the Liberals' 30 per cent. The NDP are at 15 per cent, the Bloc Quebecois at nine and the Greens at 10.

A little worse that last week's version for the Libs, but certainly nothing to suggest (as Ipsos does) that NDP support is cratering.

Ipsos should go back to Friday releases. They have the whole weekend before they are countered by a credible source.

Only one pollster has pegged the NDP at 12%, and that's Ipsos three times since the last election.

I am ignorant of these things - whey would Ipsos always massively understate left-leaning support? Is there something funny about their method?

This is a real question - I vote NDP myself but don't dislike Liberals. I count myself as annoyed when NDP bloggers crow at every poor showing for the Liberals in Ipson.

One of the things I hate most about polling (besides polling itself) is the confusing way they're reported within the same article. The order of current/previous polls and comparisons between parties are reversed in each paragraph, sometimes numerical values and "%" are used, sometimes they're spelled out, etc. etc.

I can't help think it's by design, although it is a fact that everyone in the news media and the pollsters themselves are retarded.

How about this truth the reformatorts never dreamed of. Tories, separatists and socialists in the same bed running from liberals. Sounds like harpo has been had by Iggy to me.

I love it!!!

The "media" doesn't report, it seeks to shape the writer's desired view of reality.

TG is hitting the nail on the head.. the polls, to begin with, are virtually meaningless, and beyond that, the way in which they are "used" by whoever is reporting is, well, usually following some half-hidden agenda by the reporter.
