...who ran for and last night won a seat on Mississauga City Council (ward six). Despite her penchant for hot-headed remarks, I have always thought Paul Martin acted dishonorably when he kept Ms. Parrish from the Liberal caucus after she propped up his government during the May 2005 non-confidence votes. Martin's actions seem particularly spiteful given that Carolyn was suffering a bout of kidney stones on the day of the vote.
Nice to know that Ms. Parrish is happy to be a "small fish" on Mississauga Council. Also nice to know that she is being looked at as a possible replacement for Mayor Hazel McCallion when "Hurricane" Hazel either retires or drops dead. Hopefully, Carolyn Parrish will be in politics long after Paul Martin has has faded into a vague, unpleasant memory.
So here's to Carolyn Parrish, a good Canadian.

What makes her a good Canadian? I've never been much a fan.
Because she spoke out for the good of the nation, against Iraq War II and missile defense, and didn't mince words about it, even when this meant going against her Party leader.
Of course she went a little over the top in some things.
And if you ever get kidney stones (I never have but my wife did), then the idea of getting up and dong anything, let alone going to Parliament Hill to cast a vote that props up the government, may seem heroic.
