What The Polls Tell Us About An NDP/Liberal Coalition

They tell us there's a couple of Tory Freepers out there with very sore thumbs.

I think voters want government to work. End of story. There is real risk to all the parties and ultimately the country because of this game of political chicken. Very sad day for Canada.

I agree with Grumpy that it is a sad day for Canada.

On one hand, I am happy that the opposition has exposed Harper for what he is (someone who willfully chooses to play partisan games when a reassuring, steady and compassionate hand is needed) but it is sad that Canada has that type of Prime Minister. It would have been even scarier to have that type of PM and not expose it, as Harper could be doing lots behind the scenes to destabilize Canada. But really, all the scenarios are a bit scary. Too bad we got stuck with an egomaniac for PM who can't put Canada first, just when we need a good leader most.

What this whole mess tells me is there is far too much power concentrated in the Prime Minister's Office. I don't care whether that PM is Liberal or Tory, the basic structure of our political system is such that MP's (who should have put the brakes on this thing) have no role whatsoever in stopping this kind of power imbalance.
