It's a good day for the Liberals when all they can muster up is a bizarre out-of-context quotation from 1991 and to claim Iggy meant he was planning to raise taxes when he actually said he would not raise taxes.
But they are only testing the waters. They had planned on a 4 month leadership race/research period in which to poll, focus group, test out different attack lines in secret so now they have to scramble and do it in public.
Classic desperation campaign already: throw mud and see what sticks. If any sticks, throw lots more of that.
Expect a massive communications rollout of attack ads in the first or second week of January in the lead up to the "budget" from self-described "economist" Stephen Harper.
The Tories will be able to get an effective edge in when we find out precisely what Iggy stands for, what his economic blueprint might be, and how he would be different from Harper on foreign policy.
Seems to me that Superbowl Sunday is a likely time for 'kick-off'... How likely is it going to be about 'He'll raise your taxes and drink your blood!'?
Harper knows the coalition is dead Sandi. Therefore who cares about the Bloc.
In a general election though, he can now pander to those same Bloquistes that he just got crushed by in October. He can say look at me. I love your nation and your people. Vote for me!

This is very close to Harper:
HE HAS NO EYES, JUST BLACK PITS LEADING TO THE DARK OF HIS SOUL, AND HE WILL RAISE YOUR KIDS' TAXES!!!!!

Ted, I'm waiting for them. Very hard where they can get an effective "edge" in, though. With Dion it was pretty obvious.
Don't worry. They're very creative on the Blue Team.
They're missing the obvious, which is that Michael Ignatieff is literally Count Dracula. Leaders don't drink blood. Michael Ignatieff is not a leader.
This is just the beginning. We know from history that the negative framing is coming next.

Grumpy,
Maybe but that's a whole different kind of argument from "He looks like a wimp and can't speak english.", which worked pretty well last time around.
I see Stephen Harper, basilisk-eyed, arrows pointing downwards & inscribed "Economy"

How about Harper approves of separatists. He appointed on, Rivard, to the senate, one of the 18.

Garth Turner says that Harper will keep his party financing poison pill in the budget, while caving to all the other opposition demands.
Who could not see that one coming?
