BCLSB Exclusive: James Lunney's Principles Of Evolution

CPC MP James Lunney has quit the party so as to more freely pursue and elaborate his own theory of biological change.  He spoke in the HOC yesterday afternoon, but was rudely cut off before he could fully state his beliefs.  However, an opposition "source" found the full text of his presentation in a trash-can outside the East wing.   I have reproduced some excerpts below:

The question is not: did Jesus ride a dinosaur?  The question is: what kind of dinosaur did Jesus ride? Reasonable men may differ, but I lean towards Carcharodontosaurus.  It was hardy and even-tempered.  Also damn fine eatin'.

[...]

The wheel of Ezekial was in fact a UFO, which brought the dinosaurs to Earth, including Stegron and Barney. Also, Ezekial was  called "Easy" by his friends.  Not many people know this.

[...]

The Id forms the very ground for the SuperEgo, always and everywhere permeating the structure of it.  Oops.  That's Freud.  Wrong theory.

[...]

There is no theory of evolution.  There are only the animals that Chuck Norris has allowed to survive.

[...]

The lower back supports the spinal column and brain-case.  It also supports the chiropractor.  But I am rambling now.

[...]

When the End Times come, and they are coming, those who scoff will find themselves swept into a lake of burning fire, while believers ascend to Heaven and a life of infinite happiness.  Personally, I look forward to playing ping-pong with Jimi Hendrix.

So there you have it.  Our government appears to have lost a thinker of the highest order.

James Lunney: Standing Tall Against The Anglicans, Quakers, And Other Riff Raff

The Tory MP for Nanaimo-Alberni MP explains why he won't meet with local representatives from KAIROS:

Nanaimo-Alberni MP James Lunney says he won't be bullied into meeting a church group upset about federal funding cuts to international aid organization KAIROS.

"The message is, don't try to intimidate your MP," he said.

Context is important: the Parksville-Qualicum chapter (is that the right term?) of KAIROS has asked repeatedly for a meeting with their MP. Their "bullying" has consisted entirely of phoning that MP's office and, perhaps, sending him emails.

Readers can catch up on the whole unfolding of the KAIROS story here.

James Lunney Watch: Update

MSM reaction continues to trickle in over Tory MP (and chiropractor) James Lunney's statement in the HOC that, if Darwin lived today, he might just convert to young Earth creationism. Not nearly as much outrage as when Gary Goodyear stepped in it the previous week, but maybe the good jokes were all used up in that first incident.

Lunney himself, wisely enough, is staying quiet.

Another Tory Creationist Emerges

From the HOC today:

Mr. James Lunney (Nanaimo—Alberni, CPC): Mr. Speaker, recently we saw an attempt to ridicule the presumed beliefs of a member of this House and the belief of millions of Canadians in a creator. Certain individuals in the media and the scientific community have exposed their own arrogance and intolerance of beliefs contrary to their own. Any scientist who declares that the theory of evolution is a fact has already abandoned the foundations of science. For science establishes fact through the study of things observable and reproducible. Since origins can neither be reproduced nor observed, they remain the realm of hypothesis. In science, it is perfectly acceptable to make assumptions when we do not have all the facts, but it is never acceptable to forget our assumptions. Given the modern evidence unavailable to Darwin, advanced models of plate techtonics, polonium radiohalos, polystratic fossils, I am prepared to believe that Darwin would be willing to re-examine his assumptions. The evolutionists may disagree, but neither can produce Darwin as a witness to prove his point. The evolutionists may genuinely see his ancestor in a monkey, but many modern scientists interpret the same evidence in favour of creation and a creator.

Another Chiropractor too. Weird.

And what the hell is a "polystratic" or polystrate fossil, you ask?

The word polystrate is not a standard geological term, and is found most often in creationist materials.[3]

Just another note, radiohalos are, unlike polystratic fossils, a real geological concept. But they are only a significant geological concept if you are a Young Earth Creationist, because they have been interpreted as evidence of...well...a young Earth.

So Mr. Lunney seems to have been verily steeped in Creationist pseudo-science, though not so much in real science.
