Enbridge Spills
One in a continuing series. They're playing Regina this time. But don't worry, the NEB is on the case.

Oil Spill In Sarnia
An oil leak was discovered around 8:30 this morning at a site just south of Enbridge’s property on Indian Road.
Its Enbridge property [or not, see the note below, but not necessarily their oil. Imperial Oil and Plains Midstream also have pipelines sharing the same right-of-way, according to the brief audio that accompanies the story through link.
Note: Someone tells me in the comments that its actually on Imperial Oil Property. I've changed the headline.

Ethical Oil
,,,pollutes just like the other stuff. Folks at Red Deer, Snakes Head, and Butcher Creek should toughen up and strain it through their teeth when they drink. Remember, putting up with this shit is in the National Interest.

Why Can't The Liberals Do Stuff Like This?

And the rest is here.
Even when the Liberals score a comparable tiny triumph, it looks a bit scuzzy.
Pity that the NDP are a bunch of hapless dreamers. Might be worth voting for them otherwise.

"Top-Kill" Has Failed
BP is moving along to "Junkshots" and other more desperate measures. They're saying this at The Oil Drum, and NYT has picked it up here. If its true, and junkshot fails (very likely at this point) then every couple of days = one Exxon Valdez, for the next 90 days, until they drill a relief well, if they get the relief well right the first time.
They're talking about deliberately torching the Louisiana Coastline to burn off oil that's washed ashore. Can't find the link right now, but they are.
Planning to go South this year? B.C. is a nice alternative.

In The Realm Of The Non-Surprising
Offshore Oil Safety Awards Luncheon Postponed
The Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Service (MMS) announced today that the 2010 Annual Industry SAFE Awards Luncheon scheduled for May 3, 2010 at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas has been postponed.
The ongoing situation with the Transocean Deepwater Horizon drilling accident has caused the MMS to dedicate considerable resources to the successful resolution of this event, which will conflict with holding this ceremony next week.
It is perhaps ironic that last year's winners included BP America Inc [who own Transocean Deepwater Horizon]...for their outstanding dedication and leadership in promoting improved medical care and evacuation capabilities for offshore facilities.

Meanwhile, to help out BP America, the U.S. government prepares to burn the ocean in order to save it.
