Canadian Blogger Advocates Forced Sterilization

Peter Csillag, a member of the Blogging Tories, the "central hub for national conservative NGOs including the Canadian Taxpayers Federation and the National Citizens Coalition", has suggested that Alberta's crime problems could be solved by reinstating the Sexual Sterilization Act :

The problem with the original act was that it was based on the biologically questionable concept of eugenics. A newer act would be based on making a long-term social investment. The system was not conducted fairly and sterilized a lot of people that shouldn't have been. IQ tests failed those who weren't proficient in the English language.

Rumour has it Peter will be debuting his National Post column in the space made vacant by Warren Kinsella's departure. Good luck Peter! And congratulations also to ex-Alberta Tory candidate Craig Chandler and Ezra Levant for recognising Peter's talent and agreeing to interviews with him.

h/t CC.

Maybe the Neo-Cons and NDP aren't so different afterall. It was the CCF which was replaced by the NDP that originally brought in eugenics and sterilization and now the Neo-cons are drooling over it.

Figures.

I hear all the contenders are meeting in a beer hall somewhere to decide who is the most deserving of occupying that space permanently.

This site is truly bordering on the idiotic. More specificly, the border between idiotic and insane.

Enjoy your inbred little circle, heaven forbid you get exposed to something called reality.

Hey, BCL...you're getting Nashonal Poast editors commenting on your blog.

Kudos.

Ummm, nonytard, do you understand how this works? This part:

The anonymous at 4:57. The style is unmistakable.

...oh, you thought I meant they were referencing your blog somewhere else?

No such luck. The only bloggers the Nazi Post recognises are the genocide supporters.

You should write a post suggesting the Conservatives be sent to concentration camps. Only, be subtle and nuanced and Swiftian about it.

Don't toy with me like that, Ti-Guy. You know how I live for being denounced by Tories.

No, actually it was the United Farmers of Alberta Party that brought in the sexual Sterilization Act - with the effort led by former Conservative George Headly and maintained by the right wing Social Credit Party until they were voted out of office. Neither the CCF nor the NDP have ever been in power in Alberta.

Nice try at a deceptive drive-by smear though. Better luck next time schmuck.

I hear you. Unfortunately, they're on to that. Even ol' KKKate is too celebrated to notice all the little people these days...the people without whom she'd be nothing...NOTHING.

Peter is just helping to lay the groundwork for when the conservatives plead insanity.

Cliff:

You are correct. It appears that people familiar with Tommy Douglas' thesis, wherein, in part, he appears to have endorsed the concept of eugenics, think that SK had such a law as well. They didn't.

In Canada, only Alberta and BC had such laws which enabled sterilization without consent, based on the assessment of a board.

As a CPC supporter who does not consider himself a neo-con (I certainly don't know any)I think that Peter Csillag should STFU. His suggestion is ludicrous...

At which point, according to his logic, they'll be forcibly sterilised.

Gawd...The Conservatives and their blindness to irony.

I'm shocked that there was ever a forced sterilization program anywhere in Canada. I had no idea. Hearing that Conservative bloggers now support the idea, on the other hand, is pretty run-of-the-mill stuff, don't you think?

Whenever any right-wingnut spews this nonsense about Tommy Douglas supporting eugenics, please be so kind as throw some acid in their face or at least give them a reality check:

- as a university kid he wrote a thesis for which he gave an unqualified public denunciation in 1938 after visiting Nazi Germany

- as Premier he never enacted any eugenics law when he had the chance

- by contrast, social conservatives from the Social Credit Party, namely "Bible" Bill Aberhart and Ernest Manning, premiers of conservative Alberta, not only supported eugenics, not only passed eugenics laws, but never removed them. This was only done in 1971 when the progressive conservative Progressive Conservatives dumped the social conservative Social Credit.
