$27 per trip.  Who knows how many $1,000,000s  to build.  

This means, officially, that every transit line they've built in this town since 1986 when I moved here has been a boondoggle.

(Mind you, maybe its packed during the rush-hour.  But I doubt it.)

Chief Blair...Unchained

I posed a question while on a media panel at the last mayoral debate which stated Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair has of late spent considerable money on lawsuits trying to muzzle members of the Police Services Board. This was incorrect and I apologize to the chief.

This, plus the dust-up with the dumber brother, suggests to me that the chief  is in the official "fuck you I'm retiring" phase of his personal PR strategy.  Let us hope he spends the next six or eight months cutting chunks out of the butt of everyone on council and in the newspapers who ever looked at him funny.  Keep things exciting.

Nobody Loves The Mayor

Calling the situation a “crisis” for city hall, Coun. Giorgio Mammoliti, a Ford ally, said he would not support a byelection because he thinks it would be a waste of money with two years left in the current four-year term.

Instead, he would prefer council to appoint a “caretaker” mayor if Ford’s appeal fails.

I am beginning to think the mayor is done, politically, given this, Mammoliti's quitting the executive, and similar sentiments expressed by Ford ally Doug Holyday a day ago.  If Ford can't run again for two years, the city will get used to boring council politics again and decide they like it.  Center right money-men will find another candidate with a similar political agenda but without the penchant for stepping on rakes.  And if Ford runs, he just splits the vote that candidate.  Presto!  Mayor Chow!
