Who in their right mind would buy one of these papers? They are interconnected with publishers/sales managers, shared editorial service and here's the big non-selling point no damn presses! Remember when they thought it was a good idea to share services? Now it has made these papers almost worthless. Great call Stun Media. this would be akin to buying an ice company with no freezers.

Toronto Sun Shames Great City Of Toronto

Toronto is a clean and beautiful city… that is littered with a few eyesores. Some of the most evident examples are the poorly maintained and abandoned 24 Hours newspaper boxes. Their once bright orange exteriors are now covered with street grime, graffiti, stickers and posters. This is more than a sign that Sun Media who owns these boxes does not care about its image but it is company that has little regard for the communities that they place them in.

Word is one, possibly two, major Toronto Sun players were pink-slipped today.

TSF tipsters say once confirmed, the departure of one high-profile 333 vet will be a shocker.

We are trying for confirmation.

I can't wait to hear who. 

Its all part of Kory Teneycke's "flight to crap" strategy.  Betcha The Ez gets a pay hike.

 Although WK is entertaining enough.  My wife has seen this guy over the years.

Criminal Eyes: Is Toronto Sun Using Stock Photos on Its front Page?

This fellow seems to think so.  Don't know what he's talking about re page 2, but that sounds interesting as well:

So with Sun Media not being part of the Ontario Press Council anymore, does this mean I can't complain about the fake news picture on the front page of today's Toronto Sun (July 22)? The Sun ran a cheap photo ($3.75?) bought from a US web site and passed it off as a current Canadian news picture of a "war criminal".

What about the factually-incorrect story on page two? All other Toronto papers got the facts correct but then they used their own people to report the story. The Toronto Sun got the story from a cheap, non-news, US company

The pic DOES look really Istock, but I admit I haven't found an exact match using "criminal eyes" or "black balaclava" or whatever.  I leave this as an exercise to my readers, who are surely the smartest readers in the world.

Toronto Sun Staff Exit The Propertied Class, Part II

Having had 333 King sold out from under them, T.O Sun staffers are now wondering who might be occupying the building's other floors. So far, the news is not pretty:

"No Frills" grocery store on the ground floor of 333 King Street East. I guess No Frills suits the Sun perfectly. No Frills will (more-or-less) occupy the mail room area and a bit more.

The press room will be converted into four(?) larger stores or businesses.

West of the front doors, Red's will be partitioned into 4 (?) smaller retail shops.

East of the front doors, the old barbershop, courier desk and circulation office will be converted into 3 (?) stores.

Mural on Front Street was supposed to stay, but the plans show the mural gone, replaced by windows.

Will Sun staff be happy when a wine shop opens one floor below them?

It gets worse too. My secret sources tell me that other businesses in the building will include a laundromat and paint-ball combat facility. There is also a rumor that a mosque/sharia bank will take up three entire floors. Giant loudspeakers mounted outside of 333 King will be used for the thrice-daily call to prayer.

Toronto Sun Building Sold

This has been talked about for ages now, but finally details have emerged. First Gulf is these guys. The Sun staff has all been jammed onto a single floor, but one bit of good news is that they've finally been granted access to an extra set of bathrooms. Wait times have been significantly reduced. As for the "retail uses", I'm told these will include a paint ball emporium and a Halal butcher.

Looks like the sale of 333 King St. is nearing completion. Going forward, The Sun will lease back a portion of the building from its new owners. Six floors of newspaper will be crammed onto one. Staff will lose free parking, their cafeteria, and their printing presses. They are being advised to keep warm in winter by "running around in circles". They will be sharing the building with other commercial entities, including a laundromat and a paint-ball facility. No word on the purchaser, but the phrase "Sharia finance" comes up in the official sales docs on several occasions. Will traditional head-gear become a union issue when the next contract rolls around?
