Pro-registry groups such as the Coalition for Gun Control and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) are politically-motivated lobby groups that derive financial support from pro-registry sources.

“Their positions are tainted and suspect in my view, because their endorsement can be bought,” says Breitkreuz. “CGI Group is a major registry software contractor, and a major contributor to the CACP coffers. Could it be that CACP support for the registry is financially motivated?

Damn. This guy must be one of those principled conservatives = crazy.

1) attends the AGM of the Canadian Shooting Sports AGM in Mississauga, and speaks to them, over the orders of the PMO.

I am attending the Canadian Shooting Sports AGM in Mississauga this weekend where Yorkton-Melville Conservative MP Garry Breitkreuz was the featured speaker at the Saturday evening banquet.

2) but only after TO Star reporters have been hustled out of the room.

The Toronto Star, having been removed from the room, was unable to cover this secret presentation.

As of today, the T.O. Star says Breitkruz didn't speak.

So: who lied to the T.O.Star?

Garry Breitkreuz: I Call Double Bullshit On You!

From the opening of his Op-Ed in today's National Post:

When the national long-gun registry was introduced 14 years ago, I believed it would help keep Canadians safe.

From Hansard Tuesday, June 13th, the day Bill C-68 (which established Canada's gun registry) became law:

This bill is going to be a horrendous cost. I wonder if the hon. member would rather spend the money on crisis centres or counselling for families at risk, rather than on this legislation? Would it not make more sense? We are running further and further into debt. I do not think we need more legislation like this.

The same government that is giving criminals more rights than victims is also bringing us legislation that will put a heavy burden on law-abiding gun owners rather than criminals. I cannot see how we can accept that.

...which is to say that the Op-Ed piece is lies from the word go.
