Tips on Beating Down the Conservative Menace
That's what I get from this. (And, yeah, if so that's kinda racist)
PS. And, yeah, in the Breeders tune Limehouse it does refer to heroin. Kelly Deal was an addict for quite awhile.
Well in fact the term "tar baby" (though it can be misused as can any word) means a "sticky situation". Polivere's comments here appear to use the word correctly. We should be careful about going off on a frolic of our own.
Yeah, but what does a tar-baby that one has fathered illegitimately mean?Who was the American President they accused of having an illegitimate black baby?
Trust me, I hold no torch for the Tories at any time but this one is not fairhttp://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tar%20babytar baby –noun a situation, problem, or the like, that is almost impossible to solve or to break away from. Also, tarbaby.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Origin: after the tar doll used to trap Brer Rabbit in an Uncle Remus story (1881) of Joel Chandler Harris
Sue is correct.Your righteous indignation is falsely placed BCL. Both you and Kinsella look pretty stupid right now...
An unusual position for both of us, Richard.(Besides, sue hasn't really thought through the whole paternity issue yet. PP is accusing Iggy of fathering a tar-baby).
Both you and Kinsella look pretty stupid right now...Well, you're the expert on stupid, aren't you, NAMBLA/Holocaust-Victims-Are-Hilarious-Richard Evans.Come to think of, you're also an expert on fatherless bastards. So says Mother Evans...
Please don't put me in the position of defending Polivere and his crew. "Fathering" a tar baby can be perfectly innocent (ie giving birth to this sticky situation)...There is so much more to get these guys on no need to go after them on word play.
hmmm paulsstuff found this one:The Tar Baby of Canadian PoliticsApril 11, 2000Larry Zolf CBC....Rapidly but surely, Stockwell Day is becoming the tar baby of Canadian politics and is dragging a reluctant Preston Manning and the new Alliance Party into the tar pits with him....'http://www.cbc.ca/news/viewpoint/vp_zolf/archive/zolf000411.html
There is so much more to get these guys on no need to go after them on word play.Yeah, but that discussion is too hard for Canadians. I'd say Peepee earned this tar-baby.
hmmm paulsstuff found this one:...Great comment, Sharon. Did you show it to NAMBLA Richard Evans? Go over and post it at his lair....c'mon, Con-Troll. Help your fellow wingnut out.
You give me too much credit TG, I had to do a google search of 'NAMBLA Richard Evans?' Weird memory hole thing came up.
Ah...NAMBLA Dick or, if you want to be hip-hop about it, NAMBLA-D. My favorite toxic toad.
I had to do a google search of 'NAMBLA Richard EvansYou peformed a google search?Well, how 'bout that?I've given you way too little credit, m'dear.
Well in fact the term "tar baby" (though it can be misused as can any word) means a "sticky situation".Well, in fact, it is irrelevant what privileged white folks view as to what the term may or may not mean to them, to most black folks the term is a slur that ranks right up there with "nigger". As my African-Nova Scotian partner stated last night, "I've never heard it NOT used as a racist taunt". Throw into the mix the illegitimate birth of a black baby and you have what will be construed to most (if not all) African-Canadians as a very, very racist comment. There goes that vote, creeps. Not that you had it, or cared you had it, in the first place.
Just because some said it before, doesn't make it right to do so now. It's like saying Johnnie's going to jump off a bridge so I will too. This is 2009 and tar baby is used as a racist phrase, just like Uncle Tom. C'mon - are the Cons using this to divert attention from the economy etc.?And, what is so hard to explain the context of the reason for using this phrase and saying "I apologize" if I've offended anyone? Why no apology? He apologized to the aboriginals (so as not the mess up Harper's so-called reach out to our aboriginal people). An apology to aboriginals, but not the black folks? Why?
BCLI reserve the right to be wrong. That said, here is my take: you and Kinsella are interested, and sometimes desperate, to score points in the partisan battle. In this effort, when you stoop to this kind of mud-slinging, the only contribution you make is to deepen the already bottomless septic tank of cynicism Canadians have for the partisan political process the the carnival barkers for same.
The high road was tried last time. It didn't work.
BCL; You deleted my comment. Did I get a little too close to the truth there? Hell hath no fury like a socialist scorned...Johnny M.; Yup!
Poilievre? Worse than Flanagan, an apologist for mass child sex abuse.Pierre Poilievre claims the victims "partook" of the abuse and (since it was a voluntary contract, obviously) owe some kind of "value for money" accounting to their abusers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws2Jc5692TY
