Liberal Position On Gutting Pay Equity

[Liberal MP Hedy Fry] promises that when Liberals are re-elected, they'll re-instate pay equity (hopefully the simpler, tougher system recommended by a 2004 task force), just as Jean Chrétien re-instated the court challenges program after Mulroney's government killed it.

So there's the Liberal Plan I was looking for. Such as it is.

(PS. Probably won't be posting much today. Might have a bit of mini-news to reveal later.)

The Liberals are so much for this issue, that they voted to support the budget and keep the Tories in power.

I take this Liberal promise as seriously as I took their promise for National Child Care in 1993, 1997, 2000, and 2004.

In 2004, by the way, Canada was ranked last in the developed world in terms of the proportion of national wealth devoted to Early Childhood Education & Child Care, so seriously had the Liberals taken their decade of promised concern for Child Care.

The strategy seems to be to win back votes by promising to reinstate everything - pay equity, environment, etc. I wonder if that sell will work or if the NDP and Bloc will make inroads with ads like "Michael Ignatieff: willing to sell you out once, why not twice?" Cue black and white photos and scary music here.
