The Students On Studentgate: Did Tories Use Taxpayers Funds To Undermine Student Democracy?

From The Canadian Federation of Students news release:

"Students deserve to know how much the Conservative Party has spent and who has received funding and training,' said Melanson. 'I certainly hope that the federal and provincial Conservative parties aren't using taxpayer dollars for these purposes.'"

Here's the CFS website. Hope this isn't a case of battling party front groups.

Our friend Dante is over at Maxwell's House delivering of himself the pain and anguish every incidence of lefty/feminazi perfidy caused him during those formative years (high school and its extension into post-secondary education) that never ends for these people.

These boys are severely traumatised. I recommend camps.

Presenters are heard advising Conservative students to set
up "front organisations" to receive student clubs funding under false
pretenses in order to funnel money to the Conservative Party.

That sounds sooo familiar...like the In and Out Scandal.

Is using false pretenses to funnel money to Conservative Party Coffers standard operation procedure with these guys?

How do you suppose they would have reacted if it had been the Liberals caught on tape doing it?

Is this a form of fraud?

Wow talk about pot meeting kettle. This from the CFS uses student fees to further its own political agenda--often on issues unrelated to post secondary education.

Good lord, KC, are you serious? The CFS executive have to face regular elections. If members don't like what they do, the CFS can be held accountable for their actions. There is absolutely no comparison between the CFS and these front organizations -- which are, by definition, obscuring their true affiliation.

No there is no comparison between CFS and the front organizations but there IS a comparison to made between leftists (I dont really like that phrase but its the only way I can really describe those folks) on CFS and the various university councils using student resources to advance their political agenda and conservatives doing the same. I got pretty sick of my student fees being used to fund their crap.

Whats sauce for the goose...

Shorter KC - "If the CFS does something I don't like, its fine that the Conservative Party coordinate a fraud and siphon money from students under false pretenses"

Have I got that right?

"Everybody does it" is hardly an excuse for doing something clearly unethical and probably illegal.

PST...and before you "go there", I am a libertarian and a market anarchist - I despise the Liberals too. I despise them all. So when I say this stuff, trust me, its not because I'm shilling for a different party.

Mike - Those funds were already taken from students on tv false pretenses that they will be used for student purposes.

I'm not excusing anyone. Two wrongs don't make a right. I'd rather the students just keep the money. CFS just doesn't have any room to criticize here.
