Candian Arab Federation: Whoopsie Poo!

CAF Disassociates Itself From Recent Comments

The Canadian Arab Federation (CAF) is proud of its Canadian identity and heritage and would like to disassociate itself from recent comments attributed to one of its members. The comments made are in no way reflective of CAF nor its feelings towards Canada. CAF sent out a Canada Day Greeting to its members and general public on June 30th 2009 and continues to wish all Canadians a Happy Canada Day.

They're referring to this, of course.

Note to CAF: hard times build character, but it is possible to have too much character.

Ok, maybe I had too many beer at yesterday's barbecue, maybe the beef on a bun was just too delicious, but I'm in a somewhat positive mood this morning.

I found the following very positive:

"Mouammar said the comments don't reflect the views of the CAF, a group that represents more than 40 Arab organizations across the country.

Tarek Fatah, founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress and a media commentator who has been critical of the CAF in the past, called the comments "hateful" and that Canadians shouldn't tolerate it.

"This hateful attitude towards Canada is a direct result of how some politicians and police have refused to stand up to Islamists, either out of fear or for electoral expediency," Fatah said.

This is what we need from our Arab and Muslim citizens. Unequivocal denouncement of those who seek to instill an anger and hatred for our country in the name of their nationality or their religion.

What I found particularly telling was the comment that "politicians and police have refused to stand up to Islamists". No fear of persecution there.. well said, and he should be commended.

Assinine and moronic, and worthy of no comment beyond that.

This is what we need from WASP citizens. Unequivocal denouncement of those who seek to instill an anger and hatred for our country in the name of their nationality or their religion.
