The Edmonton Whitemud Progressive Conservative constituency Board has proposed a resolution removing section 9 (the parental opt out stuff) from Bill 44. There is some hope it can be put before the Progressive Conservative Party to vote on at its Annual General Meeting in November.
Good on them. Being Torys, I suppose these folks are part of the "silent majority" Culture Minister Lindsay Blackett insists support the bill.

It's interesting to note that Dave Hancock, the MLA for Edmonton-Whitemud and the Minister for Education, missed the final vote on 44, after defending it in the press.
Somehow I don't see section 9 being removed so soon, as it will appear as a victory for the opposition.
