I'm opposed to this bill, but I was also opposed to the mandatory sentencing bills which removed discretionary powers and which the NDP helped the Conservatives pass in 2007. I don't see how the NDP can talk when they already did their part to help move Canada toward US style sentencing.

Showing that power is all that counts in the guys who are now in control of the liberal party - lends credence again to liberal/tory ditto the story.

When Iggy grovels, he does it with clenched fists.
I'm going to steal that one. A keeper.
That clenched fist thing is kind of awesome. He looks like he's the leader of a Marxist revolution or something.
"Down with fascism! Crush the enemies of the people!"
Commies like Dawg are just upset Jack Layton didn't think of it first. :-)
Used to be that Layton consistently won the prize for Mr. Opportunist. Now he's been reduced to runner-up. Iggy has taken his crown.
As a Tory who opposes the bill, strongly, Jan is absolutely correct.
The bill, to start with, as vote pandering by the Conservatives.
The refusal to question or oppose the bill by the Liberals is more vote pandering.
The NDP may oppose it, but they do it knowing that they aren't getting many votes from the "law and order" crowd anyway..
